National Support School
We are delighted that Greenfields Community School has been designated as a "National Support School" by the National College of Teaching and Leadership. Terry Smith, Headteacher, was successfully appointed as a "National Leader of Education" (NLE) in March 2014.
This means that Greenfields is now able to support other schools which may be in difficulties or in challenging circumstances. There are only 800 NSSs across the country and only "Outstanding" schools are able to apply.
At present, Greenfields is supporting Riverside Primary School, another primary school in the Meadows. Terry Smith and Carol Norman (Headteacher at Welbeck Primary School) are currently acting as Executive Headteachers in helping Riverside improve. Bothe the Headteachers at Welbeck and Greenfields are NLEs and some staff at both schools have now been successfully trained as Senior Leaders in Education (SLEs).
The "Greenfields Guarantee!"
Welcome back to another exciting year at Greenfields Community School.
The last two years have been fantasatic for the school with, firstly, the school being judged to be an "Outstanding" school by Ofsted in March 2013 and, secondly, being designated a "National Support School" by the National College for Teaching and Leadership in March 2014.
As we start a new year, we see the introduction of the new, revised National Curriculum for schools. Elsewhere on this website, you will find our new Curriculum Farmework detailing how we intend to teach this curriculum.
We are delighted to launch our new "Greenfields Guarantee"! In this, we guarantee to every parent all of the extra things that your child will learn during their time with us at Greenfields. Obviously, we look forward to teaching the revised National Curriculum but we also feel that there are many other things that we teach at Greenfields, and many other learning experiences that we offer at Greenfields, which are not contained within the new Curriculum. The “Guarantee” is our way of showing you, as parents, what we believe to be important for our children.
Amongst many things, during their time with us from the age of 3 to 11, your child will ……
- learn to swim
- learn to garden
- learn to cook
- learn about Forest Schools
- learn a new language
- learn to play a musical instrument
- go on a residential and lots of trips
- learn to sing
- work with an artist
- take part in sports events
- learn to use the latest technology
... and learn lots of other new skills as well as achieving in literacy and numeracy to the absolute best of their ability.

Greenfields is an "Outstanding" school!
We are delighted to let you know that, following a visit by Ofsted Inspectors in March 2013, Greenfields Community School was judged to be an "outstanding" school!
The inspection, which lasted for two days on March 20th and 21st, judged the school to be "outstanding" (Ofsted's highest judgement) in all four areas - the quality of teaching and learning; the attainment of the children; the behaviour and safety of the children and the leadership and management of the school.
We are absolutely delighted with this achievement
