Spring 1- Toys from the past

This half term our topic is Toys From The Past. We will be looking at toys now and how they have changed, from toys when our parents were young and from when our grandparents were young. We will be looking at the materials that different toys are made from and also making our own toys.

In English we are reading Lost in the Toy Museum by David Lucas, as well as Traction Man by Mini Grey. We will be using these books to make our own lost toy posters and descriptive sentences. 

In Maths we continue to develop our understanding of numbers to 20. We are practising our numbers bonds and becoming experts at recognising number patterns.

Spring 2 - I wonder where we can visit in the UK

This half term our topic is geography based. We will be learning about where we could visit in the United Kingdom, the four countries and their capital cities. We will also learn the names of the seas around the  UK. 

In English our books refect our geography topic. We will be reading Coming to England by Floella Benjamin and The Queens Handbag by Steve Antony, and producing some fantastic writing based on these books.  

In Maths we continue to develop our understanding of addition and subtraction, and looking at the relationship between them. We will be exploring height and length as well as weight and volume.
