Autumn 2- Our topic this half term is The weather 

This half term our overarching topic is the weather. We will be looking at the weather and how it affects what we wear and what we do. We will also be looking at Autumn and the changes that occur into winter. In science we will be discovering different materials and some of their properties, finding ways to classify them.

In English we are reading the fable The wind and the Sun, as well as The Storm by Nick Butterworth. We will continue to write fantastic sentences as well as creating our own stories about the weather. 

In Maths we are looking at fact families. We are developing our knowledge of addition and subtraction, and learning our number bond by heart.

In addition to all of this, we will be practising for our Nativity. A very busy half term!

Autumn 1 - Our topic this term is All About Me

This half term we will be settling into Year 1 life. Our focus is on 'Ourselves'. We will be exploring our feelings - what makes us happy, what makes us sad etc. We will be learning different ways to manage our emotions and be able to explain how we feel. We will also be celebrating our families and learning that everyone families are different and special.

In English we will be reading the book 'What makes me, a me?' by Ben Faulks. We will be celebrating how special we all are, and writing some fabulous sentences to share with our families.

In Maths we will be understanding numbers to 10 - sorting, counting, comparing and ordering them.
