Year 6
Hello and welcome to class 6
Welcome to the Class 6 page where we hope to give you a flavour of life in year 6. In our class, we are kind, curious and work hard to be our best, whilst working together as a team. Throughout the year, the children will have an opportunity to experience lots of wonderful learning adventures, and we look forward to sharing these with you.
As a school, we believe in the importance of good home-school communication and hope this page will be useful. Please see below for some important reminders:
Homework:
Each week, on a Friday, the children will be set a piece of English and Maths homework which will be due the following Thursday. The purpose of the weekly homework is to help consolidate the learning from the week and to practice the skills that will support their learning in school. If your child requires support with this, please ask them to speak to one of the Year 6 team.
PE:
PE will take place on a Tuesday. For this, the children will need to have the appropriate kit: a plain white T-Shirt, dark-coloured shorts/ trousers and suitable shoes. Please also ensure that jewellery is not worn.
Reading:
Reading is a vital part of our curriculum and reading for pleasure is highly encouraged. Reading for just 10 minutes a day can have a fantastic impact on children's vocabulary, imagination and learning. Whether it's reading graphic novels, books, magazines or comics, we want to encourage our children to read daily. This can be recorded in their home-school reading diary.
If you need anything, please do not hesitate to contact the year 6 Team :)
