Arrival/Depart

Year 2 doors open in the morning at 8.45 am. This allows a quiet start to the morning and also gives you the chance to speak to a member of the team if you wish. Children are sat down and ready to learn for 9.00 am. Gates are shut at 9.00 am prompt. School ends at 3.20 pm.

Reading books

We change reading books on a Tuesday and Friday. The children put their books in their table box by the door when they arrive at school.

Please can you read at least 3 times a week with your child and record this in their diary. 

PE

We have PE  on a Wednesday afternoon and a Friday. It is easier if you bring the children’s kit on a Monday and leave it at school until Friday. Children should wear white t-shirts, black shorts or bottoms and trainers or pumps.

School uniform

All children in school should be wearing full school uniform and black school shoes. Please can you label everything. 

Autumn Term 

 During the Autumn term we will be learning all about our planet including the 7 continents and 5 oceans. We will be looking at hot and cold places and what you might find there. 

We will learn about the History of transport how it has changed over time and how it has changed life in Britain. 

In Maths we have been focusing on place value building and representing numbers up to 100. We have been focusing on tens and ones and know that 63 is made of 6 tens and 3 ones. 

We will be moving on to addition and subtraction finding one more and one less for numbers up to 100 and ten more and ten less for numbers up to 100. 

We will be using our number bonds to add numbers to 100. 

You can support your child at home by helping them to learn their number bonds to 10, 20 and 100. 

Children in year 2 will also be learning their 2s, 5s, and 10 times tables.
